The Biobehavioral Pain Laboratory
Learn. Grow. Heal.
About Us
The Biobehavioral Pain Laboratory conducts research on pain and pain management interventions for children and adolescents at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA). Using point-of-care and longitudinal assessments, we evaluate the efficacy of interventions aimed at reducing acute and chronic pain, and improving pediatric health outcomes and healthcare experiences.
Our research focuses on the biological and behavioral aspects of pain, integrative health, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), medical trauma, systematic secondary traumatic stress in both patients and healthcare providers, and neurocognitive outcomes and functioning.
By better understanding pain and its management, we aim to enhance standards of care and improve the quality of life for patients, families, and healthcare providers.
